Hi everyone! I saw a grinch nail art design on Kayla's blog and decided to do one as well. I liked the way that the mani turned out, but I absolutely hate the way it photographed. For any of you that own China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, do you have problems with it photographing more light green than grass green? The way it photographed in this mani totally ruined it for me. It looks so much more vibrant and well blended in real life but in the pics, they all look like separate bits not blended well and washed out. Such a bummer. I'm going to try and get better pics in the sun tomorrow (if there is sun) and hope that the green comes out better than it did today.
Enough about my rant on how the green photographed haha, but because of it, I don't have many pics to show. I didn't like how they turned out at all, but for the sake of showing you what I did, I shall post it up for you to see.
This was the closest I could get it. See how the green is a lot lighter than the dark green? In real life it is grass green and blends so much better with the dark green than the pic leads on.
I do like the grinch here though, he looks so evil haha, look at those sinister red eyes! My brush was acting up, couldn't find my usual one so the lines are a bit dry and scratchy looking, but I think it's fine since there's so many random black lines on the grinch's face anyway!
The difference is more apparent in the last 2 photos. Bummed!!!
Hopefully better pics for you all tomorrow! There's not many days left till Christmas and lots of things to try out! Let's just hope I can get it all done eh? Maybe I should double post a day :D We will see!

Haha I never knew my Grinch design would have inspired so many other people to try it! I'm having a blast checking out everyone's interpretations of the same character. Yours turned out awesome! Love the gradient - well done!
ReplyDeletebad picture or not, this is still so cute! came out awesome
ReplyDeleteWow, very awesome nailart, love it!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! the color fade works so well with the grinch nail!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty!! Love the gradient. I don't have this color, but I've that problem photgraphing greens before. Very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI love this mani! And the gradient is amazing!

ReplyDeletethis is a text book example of how a gradient should look! Well done!! =)
ReplyDeleteI love this one! I don't know why, but this is my favourite Grinch mani that I've seen. Really nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! he looks great!
ReplyDeleteDid u draw the grinch yourself? That's amazing!!
ReplyDeleteLove your Grinch, Linda! And I am pretty sure Dr. Suess was the first person to come up with this design, Cassandra. ;) Claiming that any mani featuring the Grinch is inspired by your design is a leeeetle far fetched. You both did really great Grinch manis. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all!
ReplyDelete@Giagiammm.blogspot.com, yup I drew the grinch myself :)
@Michelle, thanks! I really liked yours too!
Since you all like my gradient, I might do a tutorial on how to get it to look like that!
@Sonoma Bento - Haha, all I meant by my comment is that when I posted my Grinch design, I had next to no followers. Then Kayla (kaylashevonne.com) saw it, posted my design on her page, and then a Grinch design of her own, and now Linda says she saw Kayla's, and it has snowballed from there onto many other sites! Obviously I did not create the first Grinch manicure ever, and I certainly did not "come up with this design". We all have very different takes on the same character. I'm just enjoying watching the trend pass from blog to blog ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! I am jealous of your talent!
