Pink zebra

I saw this colour combo on my nail art searching escapades and it was such a lovely pairing that I had to try them! I did a zebra design, which is quite different to the ones I had done before. The lines are angled and they join together as well rather than having separate lines. Shame the pic isn't that great, looks so much better IRL, nevertheless, I think it's cool, looks kinda tribal :D

Trying to keep these on for a while since my nail polish limit has decreased from a week to 2 days! I will probably be changing these tomorrow or possibly tonight... haha

Oh wells, what ever the decision, catch ya'll laters!

Chanel'ing the Gucci

Hi there! I've had this sudden urge to do some designer nails. I had a look at the logos to see what colours they had and created my own design/representation of them, on my nails of course :)

I tried a simple Chanel one using shiny blacks, white and gold.

Personally I wouldn't wear these but it's such a nice colour combo and simple too. Might do a black and gold lunula nails some other time :)

As for Gucci, I had to do their monogram design. Challenge, but challenge accepted!

Managed to get the design down! I used their signature green and red stripes and their logo for the thumb. Sucks that I didn't have the base colour, had to mix 2 nail polishes to get a similar colour.

Fancy being rich for a few seconds haha but nevertheless, fun designs are the way to go :)

Galactica

This post has been delayed for many days! I tried a really simple galactic nail design using purples and bluey-greens. I want to try the more full on ones with the variety of colours, but when i'm bothered! For now I just wanted to do a trial and error to see how it went. The flash picked up the sparkles really nicely :)

Nothing spectacular but I thought it looked kinda spacey. I added bits of holo glitter but you can't see them at all =/

I've also decided to do some designer nails, so stay tuned!

Night garden

A day later I changed my frangipani's *gasp* haha I used to change my nails every week but its now becoming everyday! Such a bad habit *cough cough* I thought about what I'd like to do with my nails and I just bought some black polish today so decided to try that out. Mind you, it wasn't even a solid black, more a reddish purple black, but it comes on black after a second coat so that's alright. Just a black with undertones hehe Anyways, enough chit chat, I decided on a blue rose design to complement the black.

I drew some roses randomly on the nail and painted leaves randomly as well. I have used the same technique as my rose tutorial. To top off, I added a touch of silver glitter so it has some depth.

Hopefully these stay on my nails for longer than a day (hopefully!) I guess we'll find out ;P

Frangipanis!

Hi guys, I was unsure what to try on my nails, so I was flicking through my files to find something and I came across this frangipani one since my nails were red. It was a little hard to get the right petal shape, I mean some of them look kinda retarded haha but I tried and here they are;

These came out really nice in the photo, not as vibrant in real life haha oh wells that's okay, probably wont have them for long anyways :D Till then, I'll be thinking of something to do on my nails!

Pretty in lace

My friend suggested I do some lace nails a while back, but I wasn't in the mood for it. Although I was feeling the motivation to do some last night, so I had a look around at some existing lace nail art and combined a few elements to draw on my nails. Here's the results:

They're cute in real life 'cause it's a lot smaller haha Overal i'm pleased with the outcome but looking to try out some other variations :) For now, we'll just keep it as this!

Butterflies

Hi everyone, I was looking around on some nail blogs and I came across this monarch butterfly mani. The colours were so pretty, I put it down on my nails-to-do list. I tried them out last night, unfortunately I did not have a clean sponge, just an art sponge that caught my eye on my table and decided to use that instead. It left flecks of I don't even know what, so it's a little bumpy on the surface.

I've used OPI; The 'It' Colour as a base, Revlon; Sunsparks for the sponging colour and black and white acrylic for detailing.

These nails were done by Lex, she's a very talented girl! Have yet to try her galactic nails. You can find her monarch design here http://attackedastorianails.blogspot.com/2011/03/monarch-mani.html

Bride to be

Hey all! The title is not what it suggests, I'm NOT getting married but did a couple nail renders of bridal nails. I might do some more some other time but I just needed to do a bit to show an online bridal nail salon, since she wanted to see other stuff i've done :)

Although i'm not a fan of glitter, I actually really like this. It looks a lot better in real life - very sparkly and girly hehe I've mixed some gold and silver polish to get a lighter gold and layered lots of glitter with a brush.

This is a design straight from an online source. It was part of the images that my friend had to replicate for the business, so I did them too, but not all 7 hehe

I'll be looking to do some more wedding like nails, I've actually got a book of just wedding designs, but they're the crazy type with fake flowers hanging off, chunky rhinestones and whatnot haha, we will see!

Marble french tutorial

Hey guys, was meant to post this up last week, but didn't get around to doing it so gonna post it up now! I've done this on fake nails, but it would be done exactly the same if it were to be on your natural nails.

This is the look we're trying to achieve:

Keep reading to find out how it's done :)

These are the colours I've used

BYS; blue/ Volt; 62/ OPI; Charged Up Cherry/ OPI; Rumple's Wiggin'

1. Prep your nail by adding a base coat. When dry, use some tape to create a smile line for your french tip. If you find it hard to bend the tape to your nail, you can always cut a curve in the tape before sticking it down. Be sure the rest of the nail is well covered to avoid seeping nail polish.

2. Paint some white on the tip of your nails. If you have gaps in the tape, make sure not to poke your brush into these gaps, but if they do seep, you can fix them up later.

3. You can skip this step if you are doing it on your natural nails. I've just arranged all my nails on a stretch of tape so I can dip them in all at once. It is up to you whether you want to do it in one go or multiple times.

4. Start dropping in the colours in your choice of order and keep adding till you're satisfied. I have used filtered water that has been sitting on my desk overnight to get it at room temperature.

5. Using a toothpick, orange stick or something with a sharp end, start dragging gently on the surface of the polish. Keep dragging till you like what you've got.

6. I've dipped my nails using tweezers cause I didn't want to get any on my hands, but if you're doing these on your natural nails, just go ahead and dip them in! Find an area of interest or somewhere you like and dip them carefully. Using a cotton bud, remove the excess polish around the nail/finger/s. You should get something that looks like this (second pic).

7. Remove all the tape. If there are remaining traces of nail polish, use a cotton bud dipped in polish remover to do so. If any polish seeped through the smile line, clean it up a little as well. Using black stripping polish, draw a line over the smile line to hide any smudges. This will make the colours pop haha

8. This step is optional, but I did a simple accent on the ring finger. I just used a dotting tool and silver polish to create a wavy line of dots.

Hope you guys liked this, have fun marbelling!

disco ball

My nails are so shiny! Well, they were haha I bought some nail foil the other day and wanted to do a matte black with foil tips. I didn't buy the adhesive, thought it would've been a waste of money since I probably wouldn't be using it very much, just thought it was cool and wanted to try it out. I have however, tried using clear topcoat instead and it kinda works but I'm not too sure if adhesive would've produced the same result.

The result, it looks a bit speckled and patchy rather than a smooth piece of foil. I blame my darn curvy nails - don't get me wrong, I love my nails, but sometimes having them curvy makes things a lot harder. Tape doesn't adhere well on my nails and neither did this :( If i use thin strips they adhere fine! I will be looking at other adhesive alternatives to see if they work or not.

Avon; Black Night; Manicare; Quick drying top coat, Silver foil

They kinda look alright...ish hahaha Will be trying them sometime in the future again when I can be bothered, drying time using top coat is a lot longer than you'd expect >=/ Till next time!

dandelions

Second post in a day! Just thought i'd play around while I got some time on my hands. When I was thinking about something to paint before, I thought of dandelions and googled it to see what kind of designs existed. There weren't that many, so I decided to do one like the one I found on madmanis. I made a little change to them, making the little fluffy bits more realistic with the hard tail on the end. I also gave my nails a trim, they were getting quite difficult to do things with!

Revlon; Silver, Black, white, green and orange acrylic

They're simple and cute :) hope you like them!

Hey guys, I saw this tutorial a while ago on youtube and liked the colours and I've only gotten around to doing them now! Took some time to get the flowers on, but I managed and this is just a fun mani, probably gonna change it to something else!

Nature's Republic; n/a, Black, orange, white & pink acrylic

Pretty colours! Now time do do something else on my nails... for fun :)

Kiki; White, Black acrylic

I added the eyepiece in! hahah What do you think? Moustachingly smart :D

a little sneaky

Hi guys, I found this design online and thought I'd try it cause it looked cool :) Unfortunately it didnt look as good on my nails cause they're quite long :( might've looked better if my nails were a tad shorter, but that's okay, it was just a fun run (excuse the pun!)

Nature's Republic; Red, Revlon; Sunsparks, Essence; Lime Up!, BYS; Yellow, Opi; What's with the Cattitude?, Black & White acrylic

Hope you like them, gonna stroll along now :)

do the French

A bit late with this post guys! This was what I had for the past few days, wasn't inspired to do anything on them so I just left them as is - a simple white french.

China Glaze; Moonlight & Revlon; Barely Peach

Something nice and chill for the week, will be tihnking of what to do next but I believe I will be painting them pink and lace. We'll see how I go with it hehe btw I experimented with some fun designs I saw online and till then, enjoy!

camouflage

This design was from a nail book and I've always wanted to try it, just never had all the materials back then, so here they are :)

Revlon; Cappuccino, Acrylic paint in white, black, yellow, green and orange, silver stripping tape

I'm so sick of cutting down acrylic nails to do this kind of stuff! I just recently purchased some shaped falsies, so can't wait for them!! ALso bought some more nail polishes from eBay. hahaha I want some of the OPI Pirates of the Carribean collection :( We'll have to see about those, till then!

Rose tutorial

Hi guys, very delayed, but I whipped one up quickly for you all. After looking at some pictures of roses, I came up with a way to draw them easily. All you need is a dotting tool or something rounded on the end and some polish! Excuse me if the tutorial is long!

1. First off prepare your nail - paint your base colour. In this case I've just used a white piece of paper.

2. For some weird reason, my photos are uploading sideways, but it'll do. Anyways, to start off, use a pink-ish type of colour and place a drop on your sheet. Add a white polish very close so that they end up touching

3. With your dotting tool, dip the end at the point where the polish meets, so that you get both colours on. Draw a 'C' shape.

4. Repeating step 3, make 2 more 'C' shapes so that you have 3 in total for the exterior.

5. Repeating step 3 again, draw a smaller 'C' shape on the inside of the 3 petals like so.

6. Draw another small 'C' shape on the inside. At this point, your whole centre will already be covered. If you find your centre is too concentrated with white vice versa, use the opposite colour and make a small dot at the centre and blend with a sweeping 'C' motion.

7. Draw as many roses as you like. I've drawn another 2, one with the smaller end of the dotting tool.

8. Finally, using some green acrylic paint and a small brush, paint on some leaves.

Tada, finish with a top coat and you're good to go :) Remember, that you aren't limited to any colour! Hope you guys found this helpful and easy to follow, don't forget to comment and share!

watch those marbles

Hey guys, decided to do a french water marble just for fun :) Sadly the nicest parts of the design were featured on my FINGERS >.> Anyways to make it nice and quick i dunked all nails in at once, such a waste of polish to only dunk ONE nail at a time haha

my water isn't room temperature enough so the polish didn't disperse enough, might try again tomorrow but on falsies cause i'm painting something else on my nails! I also used a silver stripping tape along the smile line.

Flash

No flash, room light

Darn the hardest part for this was trying to get the tape to stay on my nails. My nails curve beyond infinity and the tape won't hold! I get those creases where nail polish can seep through, which is exactly what happened when I painted a white base. Oh wells, gonna do a full nail one but when i'm bothered for cleanup hahaha

the ol' konad

I've seen a lot of posts from other nail blogs using stamping and thought I'd whip out the one and only plate I bought so long ago and try it out. I was never good at stamping very well, sometimes I'd get the thinning of strokes or some of the design doesn't transfer >=/ But now I've tried it again and it's a lot better I think, what do you guys think?

I was inspired to use similar colours as a pic I saw on someone's blog, don't remember whose, but kudos to the owner of those nails!

Revlon; Coral Me Wild, Generic Black polish, Art Club; Yellow. The design was stamped at least twice per nail to get a full coverage.

I want to get Konad's m57 cause it has animal prints and lace!! When I have funds I will be looking to get it, cause animal prints take long to draw hahah and lace is too intricate :(

more polishes

From that last sale at Target, I picked up 2 more bottles haha I'll check it out tomorrow to see whether or not there are new ones. There was a purple one, should've grabbed it! Darn. Anywho's I grabbed some sheer ones, Barely Peach and Effervescent Opal. Barely Peach was purely for french mani's so I could achieve that milky finish, rather than a clear nail bed and the other just cause it was cheap and what the hey hahaha

I didn't paint them of my whole nail because being the sheer type they are, it'd take me ages to get the colour on and remove them as well.

L-R: Revlon; Barely Peach, China Glaze Moonlight & Revlon; Effervescent Opal (I wanted to try this colour on a white base), Revlon; Effervescent Opal

Will be trying my luck tomorrow to see if there are any new discounted items :D

happy haul :)

Today I went to visit my boyfriend at work and decided to scrounge around for some nail polish, so I decided to go to Target and I'm glad I did! I was looking at polishes in the makeup section and some were price reduced. I came across the Revlon section and noticed some colours were reduced to $6.89 and some still full priced. There was a promotion going around '$5 off Relvon polishes' so I thought hey, $6.89 was cheaper than $8.95 ($13.95-$5) so I grabbed a bottle. At the counter I was waiting to pay and the check out girl said that'll be $1.89. I was like WHAT?! and she goes cheap yeah? I go yes very cheap I'm gonna find more haha I didn't know the $5 off applied to discounted items as well!! I was so happy :)

I've also included a couple I purchased recently and a picture of my bare nails!

Revlon; Pink Chiffon/ Quite sheer, needed about 4-5 coats to achieve this colour. Reminds me of cotton candy :)

Revlon; Silver/ Very similar to the Sally Hansen one, but a TAD lighter. It's a lot easier to apply than Sally Hansen IMO

Revlon; Coral Me Wild/ Diggin' this colour! This is just one coat, I just love cross red/pink polishes, they're very flattering on my skin tone

Essence; Lime Up!/ I saw this stand at a different Target store and had a look. I wanted a lime green but didn't want to buy a full bottle and this came in a mini-like bottle for $2.95! The formula for this is so good! It's consistency is a tiny bit thicker but applies so well and it opaque and creamy :D

Volt; 62/ 0000I bought this at a Missha store in my area and i gotta say I fell in love with the colour at first site. This colour is soooooooooo nice! I wanted to get Colour Club's Age of Aquarius, but this colour looks good and close enough.

andddddd... my bare nails! They're getting quite long, need to cut them soon. Hey look, there's a tiny piece of cotton stuck to my nail haha Well I can say my nails have not yellowed as much this past year, I'm glad!

Long post, so sorry, just very happy about my purchase since nail polish in Aus don't come cheap =/ Till next time :)

superhappy!

Powerpuff Girls!!!

How cute are the powerpuff girls?! They were one of my favourite cartoons on cartoon network :) I decided to do their faces only 'cause I wasn't bothered to cut more fake nails up. I'm waiting to purchase some pre-shaped fake nails because I've been using acrylic nails all this time and they come kinda rectangular =/ And I'm using fake nails because imagine all the time and removal needed to paint every single one of these on my natural nails haha I much rather not!

Beige polish base, various colour acrylic paint

They're so cute! I'm also planning to do Blues Clues 'cause that was also a favourite kids cartoon :) What were your favourite childhood cartoons? Drop a comment, I promise I don't bite :)

Gotta Moisturise

Hi guys, just thought i'd share which cuticle oil I use on my nails and you know all this constant painting and removal, too much stress on the nails haha well anyway, I use CND Solar Oil and one by Nature's Republic from Korea. Funnily enough it looked like a bottle of nail polish and I can't read the Korean on it so when I bought it, I thought it was nail polish and freaked when I thought I 'smudged' it. When I discovered it was nail & cuticle oil I thought meh, might as well use it :)

CND; SolarOil/ Nature's Republic; Cuticle & Nail Oil

Don't hurt to moisturise! At least you can avoid those disgusting dry, cracked skin, like I am having now >.> *whipping out the oil*

time for a change

I seriously need to change my layout... haha very tacky, childish and low maintenance atm, but i'll come up with something different soon - time to bring my sketch pad around and I might as well come up with some nail designs if my brain is working haha

Point aside, I will be doing powerpuff nails soon, I've got one done so far and will be doing the rest hopefully tonight! Excited :)

Till the next post,

a royal affair

Heya, just needed to paint something on my bare nails and I decided to go for a slightly royal look; dark blue polish and silver accents - hell yes! It's a simple and elegant manicure, and all you need is some nail polish and a few different rhinestones!

Royal Affair/ Dark blue polish, white & multi-coloured rhinestones, silver beads & pearls (second image is a better representation of the colour)

A simple look for everyday, straying away from wacky designs on my nails for the time being :)

King Hearts Spades

This is probably one of the most finest detailing I've done on nail art and I gotta say, thank god it's done! I saw a video of someone painting the king and cards and I thought this would be a challenge! It's not as detailed as it could be since it's at such a small size, but I managed to get the dominant details in :)

White base, blue, black, yellow, red and white acrylic

Not the best but I tried! Gonna be finding me some more complicated designs to try out!

Recent polish purchases

I've purchased a few bottles of polishes in the past month or so and they're such pretty colours! From the last nail polish haul, I wanted a grey but got a light purple instead :( but while I was browsing around Woolies, Sally Hansen was on sale and they had the grey that I wanted! I also bought a brighter yellow, a lovely blue and a matte black.

Here are the colours:

Sally Hansen; Wet Cement/ yay, grey polish :)

BYS; Matte Blue/ not so much matte, but kinda satin-like

BYS; Matte Yellow/ not so much matte, but kinda satin-like

Avon; Black as Night/ very nice matte finish

More colours for me :) Till next time
