Get this franken party going!

Hello readers :) I'm so sad that I haven't had a lot of time to do my nails and it has been a few days since my last post, so I'll be doing something quick, will add deets laterrr :)

I've been inspired to franken something up and I decided to do a glitter one. I will explain how I got to the final colour, but I absolutely love how it looks in the bottle (in real life, not as much in the pic).

It's a blurple jelly base with every-colour-under-the-sun glitter! I started off with Ulta3's clear top coat and it's an old bottle so its a little thick. I added loose turquoise, orange, gold, light purple, blue, magenta, silver and hex holo glitter as well as some fine silver glitter polish and a few drops of shimmery white polish.

After it settled a little, I noticed the clear becoming a tad purple, so then decided to add 2 drops of CGS Urban Night (since it is jelly-like) and a drop or two of BYS Blue. Final result, here are some more pics!

Look at the glitter buildup at the base!

Purple Glitter Gradient

Hi to all my readers, hope you had a great weekend! I went to a friend's birthday yesterday at Kings Cross, and it is so seedy! It's known as the red-light district in Sydney and there's just so many young men and women in the area and plenty of strip clubs and clubs, tiny backstreets and there have been muggings and drugs in the area. I was scared, I avoided any form of confrontation and stared at the ground a lot haha

When I got home, I figured it was too late to write my report so surprise surprise, I did my nails instead! The acrylics were getting caught in my hair since I didn't flatten some of them out properly.

I decided to do a purple gradient, something nice and easy and also something I saw on someone's tumblr post.

Look how sparkly it is! I've used about 4 different types of glitter polishes for these babies teehee

Image has been blurred to show the glitter

Oh well, quick post today, I must get back to my 3000 word report. I have only written 178 as of now, so I better get crackin'!

so bright it hurts my eyes

Japanese Style Love!

OMGAD this mani is so cute, I'm so sad that I can't have them on both hands right now because my mum told me off for leaving the acrylic stench around the house :( I shall get to it tomorrow arvo; outside my house!

I absolutely love this! It's so cute and very Japanese style. I grabbed the dots idea from another mani I saw, only they had bows instead of flowers. Just last night I sat myself down to get the hang of timing to do acrylic 3D nail art. First it kept becoming so sticky and I hadn't known why, but I have discovered what I did wrong and I'm glad! More time to make 3D stuff :D

Im in LOVE !!!

What does all my lovely readers think? Do you love this as much as I do? Drop a comment! I'd love to hear your thoughts about my attempt at doing these on my nails :) Have a great night everyone!

V French

Hi everyone! I have a simple mani today, because I have to have a draft for my report for tomorrow (and our tute only told us today!) and yeah I haven't started haha no time to do fancy schmancy mani's, so sad :(

Today I am sporting... i'm not sure what it's called but I'm gonna call it a round V french since its not straight lines or anything. I've never seen this type of mani been done before so I thought it'd be great to do for myself teehee I was kinda stuck on what to paint on my nails and I thought of this all by myself, aren't I clever haha nah not really, just needed something to go over my nails. Can't be having them bare :O

I've used CGs Millennium and Skyscraper for this mani. Very simple but decent for something quick to do :) I was thinking of embellishing it, but nahhh, it would just take more time :S

Hopefully post a more inspiring mani up soon! Have a great week :)

French flowers

Hi everyone, just something nice and elegant for today's nails. I've had to chop my nails down from a few days ago and I really missed having french nails, so I decided to do them, nice and short!

I found this design when looking around on google and put it in my folder of 'to do's' Here is the original image.

This is the same design, done on my nails

I used Colour Club's Paris White for the French tip and 3 coats of Maybelline's Salon Manicure in Strong Pastel over it to get a soft white/pink finish. For the flowers, I've used a wide flat brush dipped in both white and dark purple brushed up and down slightly to get the blending going. It was finished off with dots in the centre and a couple lines and leaves. Mani was topped off with Seche Vite.

I was pleased with the overall result, very simple and elegant :)

What do you think?

Zebra Konad

Hey all you lovely readers! I forgot to post this up last night, but I tried creating a sponged look with the konad zebra stamp cause I haven't had the chance to use it since I purchased it. I tried the stamping in black and white to see which would look better. If only the white was a bit more intense!

I've used China Glaze's Light as Air as the base colour and sponged on Orly's Petit Four. Stamping was with Konad m57 and finished off with Seche Vite. Since the white lookes kinda washed out, I prefer the black, but I initially thought the white would look better, which explains why there's only one black haha

What do you think looks better?

This is just something I saw on google and since I had swatched CGs Millennium, I just decided to paint black over it hehe :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

More Swatches

Hi all, I've just got some more colours to swatch for you lovely people :) I love receiving my nail products from the mail and they take quite some time to get to Australia since I'm purchasing from the US. Nevertheless, here are the colours

I absolutely love this colour! It was a bit pricey when I wanted to buy it before, but I didn't care, I just wanted the colour! This is Essie's Sand Tropez from their 2010 Spring Collection (I think). It applies opaque on 2 coats and is a lovely nude beige.

I'm not a fan of glitters, but this coloour is so sparkly and gorgeous. It's a bit dark for my complexion, but I really like it! This is 3 coats of China Glaze's Skyscraper from the Metro Collection. It's a blue-purple jelly base with lots of micro silver glitter. It'd be a great colour for winter, but shame spring is coming soon!

I thought this colour was a tad lighter, but unfortunately not really. I was looking for something pinky-purple but I guess this is more of a mauve shade, a darker pink. This is Orly's Petit Four in 2 coats. Great formula, becomes opaque after 2 coats. Shame it doesn't really complement my skin colour, but it is a lovely colour.

OMG I searched high and low for this colour and it was sold out in every store in the US/ebay sellers because it was from a CGs 2009 Khrome collection (thats 2 years ago...) and it was heaps popular. I was so sad because this colour was so pigmented and resembled foil - not to mention it is the epitome of perfect stamping polish! Ironically, I found this at a Hair Supply Store in Australia, my home coutnry. Quite pricey but I wanted it so bad I bought it anyway. If only I had gotten into nail polish earlier, like say 2009 when the collection came out! I want 2030 but I don't know if I'll find one :(

Anyways that's all I got for now, waiting on my next nail mail from 8ty8beauty! Excited :) Thanks for reading, catch you soon!

White moons

Hi everyone, just yesterday as i jumped onto my chair, it slipped and I fell off it along with my hand hitting against the table and as a result, my tail bone hurt and 3 of my nails chipped in a row. THREE. Thank god they were corner chips, but I still had to cut them and now they're little nubs :(

Nevertheless, I took this opportunity to swatch the colours I bought recently and hadn't had free nails to test on and painted a Dita Von-Teese styled mani with the addition of rhinestones :) I got this idea from Attackedastoria's blog.

I'll add swatches later cause i ceebs right now! Time to get ready for class :(

Simple lace & polka dots

Hello fellow copy cat readers! Last night I decided to plough away the slathered on glitter polish & a bed of rhinestones from my fingers to go back to something 'easier to remove'. I was thinking for a bit and opted for a simple lace and dots mani.

I've used China Glaze's For Audrey in this mani and Colour Club's Paris white for the dots. Lace was done with a fine brush and white acrylic paint.

I hope you like this design :) Should probably stick to easier to do mani's from now on and do challenging ones when I have more time. Time to get the creative juices flowing!

Plenty Nail Mail

Hi everyone, it's been a few days since my last post and honestly, should've posted these a while ago cause they came in the mail a while ago! In my defense I didn't get to swatch them properly till today :D

This will be quite pic heavy since it's 2 hauls worth and I purchased 3 bottles over the past couple days.

I kept the rhinestones from last time and replaced it with China Glaze's Nova polish. I love the reflective holo bits in this <3 This required 3 coats for decent coverage. I had a jolly time removing all of this on BOTH hands >.>

OMG I absolutely love this colour! This is OPI's Stranger Tides from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. This became opaque after 2 coats.

This colour is elegant and minimal but quite sheer. This is probably about 3-4 coats of OPI's Samoan Sand. Even after 4 coats you can still see my nail, but nevertheless, nice colour :)

I really like this purple! probably my most favourite shade out of the whole spectrum of purple. This is China Glaze's Grape Pop and in the pic I've only used one coat because after swatching several other colours, I got lazy. Needless to say after 2 coats, this would be opaque.

I bought this 2 days ago and hadn't originally chosen this colour but my brother picked it up and said that it was a nice green and I figure it is too, so I bought it haha. This is 2 coats of Orly's Green Apple. Formula is thinner than China Glaze so I needed to apply a third coat on specific areas that I kinda balded on my nail haha

This colour is very nice, it's a grey-blue with tiny shimmer particles. I hadn't noticed these had shimmer particles when I purchased it but nonetheless, it's a very pretty colour and the shimmer is very subtle. This is 2 coats of China Glaze's Sea Spray.

This colour is so pretty! Like Sea Spray, this also has shimmer particles (from the same collection). Goes opaque on 2 coats and complements my skin nicely!

This was a lot different to what the online pics showed when I researched it. I was expecting a light green-blue but turns out it was like grass green! That was okay since I don't really have a green in my collection. This is 2 coats of China Glaze's Four Leaf Clover. I photoshopped the pic cause when I took the pic, it came out exactly the same as the pics online. This is more of a closer colour indication imo.

Same reaction towards this colour, in reference pics this looked like a light blue! In this case it wasn't. This is a teal-like colour, probably a few shades darker than CGs 'For Audrey' imo. This is 2 coats of China Glaze's Flyin' High. This has also been photoshopped to correct the colour. Similar but not exactly the same!

As much as I loved this colour (in the bottle), I was kinda angst about buying this colour since I thought it'd look absolutely tacky on my hands. I decided to buy it anyway since it was cheap and the result isn't too bad! This is 2 coats of BYS's Army Chic. Will drag/bald if you brush over the same place twice, so I had to do 3 simple strokes and just leave it no matter how it looked and repeat.

Alright, not as 'picture heavy' as I might've thought, but oh wells! I think it's time to paint something new and simple on my nails since I haven't done them nicely for about a week now (very reluctant to take the rhinestones off!). Keep reading to find out what I do next :)

Bling Bling

So I've decided to try out the Katy Perry bling on 4 fingers, cause honestly, I don't think I have enough rhinestones to cover every finger at this point. We'll just call this a 'snippet' of the final look which I will do when those rhinestones arrive! I had a hard time trying to take this pic to capture the shine, cause quite frankly, it is really sparkly in the sun! I eventually took a pic with my phone and it captured the shine, but I couldn't import the image to my laptop so had to take a pic of it. So fail.

How shiny does the flash make it?? haha the flash on my dslr gives the rhinestones shadow and it looks a lot more dull than it should be (like the lady gaga ones) Oh wells, they're heaps shiny here :D Will probably update you on my latest haul soon, just received a few bottles of polish in the mail!

Solange's British mani

Hi guys, I've found this pic from Google, Solange Knowle's British mani, looks simple and pretty :) Anyways I've done these on false nails (so I get to keep the design!) and it's such a nuisance to wait for drying time and removing it.

I like it, though I wouldn't wear it haha (dark)blue makes my fingers look dark :( Still got a small collection of celebrity nails to try. I did something Katy Perry-ish but it wasn't on all digits, so I'm waiting for my order of rhinestones before I do those! Can't wait :) The next post is like a 'snippet' so stay tuned!

Rihanna's smiley mani

Another celebrity mani! This ones a lot easier, it's Rihanna's smiley (one sad face) mani hehe My friend suggested I do these cause they're nice and easy and not something usual!

What do you think? haha I personally wouldn't wear these out, so impractical haha. BTW these are on fake nails, starting to not be able to bear doing nail art and just removing them. At least now I have a tangible 'record' of what I've done :D Got another celeb mani to upload in a new post :)

Gaga Fever

Hi everyone (I need a new way to introduce a new post haha) I felt inspired to do something Lady Gaga and remembered that I had intended on doing one (maybe more in the future) of Gaga's nail designs. The most popular seems to be the one she featured in her film clip 'Poker face'.

For those who don't know, these are the nails

I've taken a stab at it and this is how mine turned out:

Shame the shine on the rhinestones aren't as shiny as in real life. Bad photo! I tend to do my nails at night and never keep them till the morning (unless those are my intentions) so my pics are either under the light or through flash :(

Aside from that, I'm keen on doing some more celebrity nails, maybe Rihanna, definitely trying something from Katy Perry and so forth. Hope you have a lovely night readers!

Triangles

Hi guys :) I've been forgetting to post pics up, cause I've been occupied by watching the OC haha Anyways, I've barely practiced with my less dominant hand for doing nail art, so while I was waiting for my my friend to come pick me up to go out, I decided to do the triangle art on my right hand also. It's been way too long.

Get a load of this, what inspired me to do my less dominant hand was cause my friend called me to say she'd be at my place in 5 mins and I knew that was never gonna happen. She was at the shops looking for something and she's gonna get to my house in 5 mins? ha! please I know she has such a bad sense of time but I love her haha During this 'waiting period' I said to myself, let's see if I can finish painting my nails before she gets here. Turns out I did haha

Simple and geometric, I love the colour combo :)

Since Uni has started, I don't feel like I'd be able to get as much designs done, but If I manage my time well enough I may be able to squeeze in a few designs :)

Burberry designer series cont.

Hi there! I've created a facebook page for my nail art :) Find it here at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.227783770591363.51108.227255990644141&saved#!/pages/Copy-That-Copy-Cat-Nails/227255990644141
My friend has suggested I do a plaid design and I thought this is a chance to do another designer design! I;ve chosen to do Burberry's plaid design. Shame the white is non existent in the design, since the background colour is quite light to begin with.

Can you tell that these are on fake nails??? haha I was in the middle of painting something else on my nails, so didn't want to have to remove it.

Pretty cool and simple eh? haha will be looking for more designer brands to do :) till then, take care!

Crackle mani

I've decided to do a quick easy mani 'cause I didn't have enough time to do something elaborate before bed. Just used a gradient of colours and applied crackle polish on every other finger and a crackle heart in between. It's a soft and subtle mani :)

The ring finger heart is heartbroken haha

I've used all the new polishes I just got haha :D Looking to try something else now...
Till then, happy designin'

Just got my nail polishes in the mail today, yayer! This is half of what I'm expecting, still waiting on about 7 more bottles to come. I've wanted to try these colours on my nails but will have to swatch them another time since I'm testing the staying power of these enamel strips.

Cutting to the chase, here are the colours:

Seche Vite; Dry Fast Top Coat
Orly; Nail Defense Strengthening and Repairing Base Coat
Maybelline; Salon Manicure Ultra Strong French
Colour Club; Paris White
Colour Club; Who Are You Wearing?
China Glaze Crackle Glaze; Lightning Bolt

Ice Queen

It's been a few days since I've posted, mind you, I wasn't bothered and put it off for a couple of days. I've had these nails for a few days now and they're still on now. Why? You'll soon find out!

Recently, when I was browsing around Target, I noticed the Manicare enamel strips range was on sale. I was curious and wondered whether these would adhere to my nails ( I have the curviest nails ever! nothing sticks :c). I also bought a bottle of Manicare's black polish since that was reduced as well.

Verdict: The black polish hadn't performed as I'd expected. After washing the dishes, the edges started peeling. It's great that it doesn't 'chip' but peeling is a no go!

As for the enamel strips, well they took a while to get on haha I had to cut bits off first for the french tip and cut a smile line so that it wasn't a stiff straight line. The enamel strips aren't actually sticky, the surface is rubber like and sticks to your nails that way. Good thing they are flexible but it was so damn cold in my house that there was no leeway :( Filing was a mission as well, since some of the strips started coming off as I was filing, had to hold both sides down with my fingers to file.

I finished with 2 coats of Sally Hansen's Teflon Tuff top coat and I must say I'm amazed they're still on my nails! There's the tiniest chip in the corner of my middle finger but that's it. Testing the staying power of these! I decided to embellish with rhinestones and pearls!

Alright, I've said enough, too much text for this post so I'll end with the pic :)
