It's my birthday!

Hi everyone!! Glad to be back to posting :)

In my previous post, I mentioned that I had an early birthday party to celebrate my birthday and today is my actual birthday! I wasn't sure what to paint on my nails, so I settled for something simple and a little different. I used a cupcake (cause I've always wanted to try it and haven't till as of now) and some ribbon to spell out '21'.

Let's have a look at the pics!

I'm happy with them! Though I'll prob remove them tomorrow to do something else haha! After my party, I decided to chop all my nails down too, since they were pretty damn long. They're a little nubbly now, but that's okay.

My friend gave me this nail idea to try, so I'm keen on it after this one :) Next post will be a bit different - i'll be posting about my birthday party! Hope to see you all in the next post!

Posting Absence

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd let you know that I haven't posted in some time, since I've been pretty busy organising things for my birthday I had on Saturday. I also got a new Macbook for my birthday (hurrah!), so I don't have the programs I use to edit my photos at the moment :(

My next post (when I get my programs) will be on my birthday! I turned 21 and had a costume party, so will blog about that and show you my nails for the night! I also have to judge my nail art contest with my friend, but she's a bit busy at the moment, so hopefully we can judge it soon!

I'd like to thank you all for your patience! I will be back shortly :)

Gloss Design on Matte Black

Hello readers! Tonight I have an old design to show you. For early followers or those that remember the pic I put on FB last year or so, I posted a pic of matte black falsies with a gloss design/pattern on them. I thought it was time that I did them on my own nails and it turned out great! I love how they look together. It's very subtle, but classy and elegant in a way. Looks best when in a brightly lit area so you get the contrast between the gloss and matte finishes.

Enough babble, let's take a look at the pics!

What do you think of this mani? Let me know below! :)

BTW, my nail art contest ends in under a week! Don't forget to submit your entries in :)

Stargazer Flowers & Grass

Hi lovelies! Today, I am making a quick post because I must get back to my assignment! I have some stargazer flowers to show you and I will also be entering them in Kayla's Nail Art Contest. The theme was 'April Brings May Flowers' and is open till the 25th May if any of you are interested.

I decided on stargazers since I saw it so much in Cake Boss and thought it'd be cool to do them and I haven't seen an abundance of them on google either. I thought I'd add some lines in to fill in the gaps, but they didn't turn out how I thought they would and I don't really like them that much, but I'm sure lot's of you will think it looks fine (unless you don't? haha). I didn't know what it looked like so I called them, as my Facebook page says, 'blades of grass and a truckload of fireflies' :D

Anyways, better get to the point, here's the pic of the mani

I had some major shrinkage for this mani - you might not be able to see it, but I tried damn well to try and cover it up! So, what do you think of this mani? Let me know below :)

Elmo Inspired Nails

Hi again! almost 2 posts in one day :O I'm trying not to skip out on so much posting so gonna make an effort to write this post up!

Tonight I have some elmo inspired nails to show you all. The idea of even doing Elmo nails came from when I was watching 'Cake Boss'. He had to make a cake for Sesame Street's 70 year anniversary (I think) and he got to meet all the characters on the set and for those who don't know, I think Elmo is the cutest thing ever! After blabbering on about how cute he is to my brother and my bf, I decided to repaint my nails and when I asked my bf what I should paint, he said Elmo, so Elmo it was!

Here's how the mani turned out.

Sorry I don't have good pics! This look was inspired by this image here:

He so cute.

Well, that's all I have to say for now! I will return shortly with a product review from Born Pretty! Stay tuned :)

Insa X Sophy Robson Competition Results

Hello my readers! This morning when I hopped onto my laptop, I saw the results from the Insa X Sophy Robson competition and I had been waiting for them forever! For those who haven't seen my entry, here's a refresher.

I saw in the tiny description on Facebook that Gracie from Deco Nails won 1st place and I thought aww damn I didn't win... BUT I opened the tumblr post to have a read and turns out, they had so many great entries that they extended it out to 3 winners! I was so happy to see that my entry got 3rd place!!! Now I'm expecting an email from them soon :) I'm really glad all my hard work paid off! Congrats to 1st and 2nd place winners, they had great entries too!

That's all I have to say for now, but keep a lookout for my next post - I do Elmo inspired nails!

Military Jacket Inspired Nails & Nail Art Competition

Helloooo readers! I know it's been HEAPS long since my last post! Honestly I've just been pretty lazy to post and it's also because my friend told me about this American TV show and I can't stop watching it haha. If any of you have heard of 'Cake Boss', that's what I'm watching now. It's about making cakes and decorating them and it's cool, I love watching how they decorate and solve problems.

Now that I have explained my absence, I think I should really start scheduling posts cause I have mani's that I haven't even posted yet. That way, when I am feeling lazy, you will all still have something to read/look at.

I have some simple military jacket inspired nails to show you tonight. I love military styled jackets and especially love the loop chain detail that symbolises the military look, so I've carried the design out on my nails using gold studs and some gold chain. I had some trouble with positioning, but it got better on my other hand.

I really liked them, they're pretty cool, but they did hurt if I scraped the chain against my skin. Tough stuff!

Also, I wanted to make some clarifications on the nail art competition that I'm holding. I will make a list here of what the requirements and details are:

- Open Internationally
- Closes on the 24th May 2012
- Theme: What's Cookin'
- Stamps, decals etc will be allowed, but I encourage hand painting
- Judged on originality & creativity
- ALL entries emailed to my email address: Linda.Khuu@live.com.au
- With your entry please leave your name!
- Winner receives a set of hand painted nails from me of their choice and a goody bag

I currently have 4 entries! Keep them coming!! If you have any questions, ask me anywhere whether it's email, Facebook or in the comment section. Look forward to seeing your entries!

It's My Blog's 1st Birthday Today!

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year! I never thought I'd be able to hold a blog for so long, considering the first one I made lasted for a few months and experienced massive neglect! I'm so excited that today is my blog's birthday and you all know that cheesy line is coming up, but it is so true and I can't put it any other way.

"I THANK ALL MY LOVELY READERS WHO TAKE TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY TO READ MY BLOG AND GIVE IT A LITTLE LOVE. IT IS YOU THAT KEEPS ME RUNNING MY BLOG REGULARLY, AND YOU WHO KEEP THIS BLOG ALIVE. YOU ARE ALL AMAZING AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING ME!"

To celebrate my one year blogaversary, I will be holding a nail art contest. YAY! This will be my first time holding a nail art contest and I am super excited! Let's go through all the details before I reveal to you what the theme for this contest is.

First and foremost, it will be open internationally and for 20 days (meaning you will have till the 24th to come up with an entry)! I wish to have you all email me your entries to Linda.Khuu@live.com.au where I will upload them to a separate album on my Facebook Page and in a separate tab on my blog so that everyone can see everyone's entry.

The winner of this prize will receive......

Ok I know this may not be so conventional, but the winner will get a PERSONALLY painted set of nails of YOUR choice! You can pick whatever design I've done and I will make a set for you! You will also receive a small goodies bag (which I haven't thought of yet, but will find!). Please note that I can only send it out a few days after you have provided me with a design you want (I still have to paint them haha)!

So here's the fun part, the theme. I was thinking about what I should do as a theme and I wanted it to be something broad and unexpected. This topic I suppose is actually something I've been working with for one of my projects and currently watching a show which involves a part of it, so without further adieu, the theme is...

WHAT'S COOKIN'?

That's right! My chosen theme is based around food or whatever you interpret the theme to be :) I'd really like to see hand painted stuff, though If you wish to use stamps, stickers etc, you can, but I'm sure you can be more original and creative with hand painted or other ways of painting on your nails. I will be judging with a foodie friend of mine and we will be looking for originality and creativity of your designs! So what are you waiting for?! You have till the 24th to get your entries in! Have fun & good luck!!

How To Apply Chains On Your Nails Tutorial

I know I've been slack with the posts! I have been a bit lazy to post up the manicures I did and I'm sure there are a few sitting on my camera that I haven't posted yet, so when I have nothing to post I will post them. I just have a tutorial for you all today. I got a lot of comments about the chain nail from the Insa X Sophy Robson competition look that I did and now I have the tutorial for you!

The tutorial is longer than usual, so I hope you don't mind watching it all. Lot's of talk, but I tried to cover everything. Enjoy!
