Peacock Feathers Nail art Tutorial

Hello! It's been a while, but here's a tutorial for you all!

Enjoy!

Valentines Day Heart Ruffian Nails

Hey hey! I have my very first Valentines Day nail art for you and many more to come hopefully!

I decided to start off with something simple and while doing so, I really wanted to do something with a heart shape in it first without using the whole heart. I initially thought a french, but then decided on doing something a little less obvious and went for the heart ruffian instead! I'm not sure if it has been done before or not, I honestly have not checked, but it was one of the things that came to mind and would be great for any beginners of nail art to try out :)

I did these nails with just the brushes of the nail polish bottle, so anyone can do this! I may make a tutorial on it, but let me know if I should?

Of course, I used the traditional V day colours for this mani. All the colours used were from OPI - the red is Big Apple Red, the white is Alpine Snow and the pink is Pink Friday. I will however, be trying to find some unconventional ideas for the later nail looks.

Sorry for the gross looking cuticles! Forgot to oil them up :(

Don't they also look like little moustaches? hee hee hee

So what do you think of this mani? Let me know in the comments below! If you have started trying out nail designs for Valentines, link me, I'd love to see them :)

Till the next post, takecare!

Born Pretty Store Product Review

Hello readers!

I forgot to post this up earlier, but I just have a quick post today. I wanted to let you know that I was contacted by BornPretty to do a video review on a product for them and of course, I gladly accepted and decided to review one of their neon nail polishes.

It was my first video product review and it was impromptu so I may have missed stuff out! Will definitely do better next time if another opportunity presents itself :)

Anyway, let's cut the chit chat, here's the video!

If you have any suggestions on how I can improve these type of videos, please let me know, I would love to hear your thoughts :)

Simple Fractal Inspired Nail Art

Hello there!

Tonight I have a mathematical inspired nail art design to show you - it's based on fractals! For those who are unsure of what fractals are, here's a definition:

noun, Mathematics, Physics.
a geometrical or physical structure having an irregular or fragmentedshape at all scales of measurement between a greatest and smallestscale such that certain mathematical or physical properties of thestructure, as the perimeter of a curve or the flow rate in a porousmedium, behave as if the dimensions of the structure (fractaldimensions)  are greater than the spatial dimensions.

Well that is a bit complicated to understand haha, just google up the images and you'll find that it's usually a repetition of shapes with a change of scale. Sorry, that's all I know how to explain haha

These are my super simplified versions. Technically, there should be more triangles within all the triangles you can see, but come on, as if I'd be bothered to draw even tinier triangles in each of those already small enough triangles haha!

I started off with 2 coats of Orly Green Apple and with one hand, I freehanded the pink triangles with MUD Look At Me and with the other hand, I decided to use tape instead since the polish base would've dried completely by the time I was done with my left hand. Afterwards, I used a black and white striper to do the other triangles and finished off with a small green triangle in the centre.

So what do you think of this design? I should look to maths for more design inspirations, provided they aren't too boring! :P

P.S. There will be 2 videos coming out soon! One of the peacock feather design and the other being a product review. See you then!

Peacock Feathers Nail Art

Hello readers!

Tonight I have a quick post before I head off to bed (it's really late, about 3.00am here!). I figured I should do it now before I forget to post it and you won't have something to look at!

I bought a couple cheap polishes from the supermarket and thought i'd try the colour out since it looked pretty nice swatched on a nail wheel. I purchased a bright pink one and a teal-like kind of colour. I decided to paint the teal colour and as I was thinking of a design, I immediately thought of peacocks! Of course it was decided that I would do peacock feathers :)

For this mani, I used this brand of polish called MUD and the colour is paradise valley. I used a white striper to do the feathers, some blue and purple polish for some colour, and some gold glitter for some sparkle. The colour didn't photograph well so I did edit it a tad on photoshop. The colour came out more blue than green in the photo and even after editing, the colour isn't the same at all, but similar. It's meant to be dark, but bright at the same time.

So, that's my mani for tonight! What do you think? Let me know below! See you all in the next post :)

Spotty Doily-like Design

Hey everyone!

Tonight i'd like to show you a nail art design that I've taken from a nail art book I have at home. I've been a little uninspired, so decided to try something from one of my nail art books. I really love this design since it is really simple to do (as complicated as it looks) and looks pretty cool!

Also, just thought I'd let you all know that I recently got a wrist piercing done! It's a bit red around the pierced area, so hopefully that all goes away sometime soon. I'll leave a pic of it at the end of the post :D

For this mani, I used China Glaze Secret Periwinkle and drew all the details in with some acrylic paint and a fine brush. It might look complicated, but it is essentially lines and dots!

Wowee look at that redness haha

So what do you think of this design? Let me know in the comments below :)

Chi Chi Bling it On Nail Set Swatches

Hello, hello, HELLO!

I know I have been gone for quite some time and I had a really hectic December studying and working almost 5 days a week so I do apologise for going AWOL all of a sudden, but I'm getting back into the game!

I thank all the loyal readers who are still here with me today, or any newcomers. It's a new year and time for some new and awesome nails!!

Tonight, I have swatches for you from a Chi Chi nail set I bought a while back, but never got the chance to swatch. They're all glitters and as the packaging says, it contains 8 of the best nail glitter shades. I grabbed it for a bargain too - roughly $15-16 for a pack of 8 almost full sized bottles, so that was a happy find.

Take a look at the awesome packaging!

Look at that rainbow paisley! Potential future nail art :D

Let's have a look at some of the pics shall we? Just a note that none of these polishes actually have any names on them or on the packaging, so I will just list them as numbers. Also, all swatches show 1 coat of the polish over a colour, except for one which will be mentioned later.

First up!

#1 over OPI What's With the Cattitude?

#1 is a clear base glitter polish with lavender coloured hex and small glitter pieces. Formula was thick, but easy to apply. Only trouble was getting the large hex pieces on - you kinda have to brush them on quickly or lightly dab some on the bald spots.

#2 over Orly Green Apple

#2 is a clear based glitter polish with magenta hex and small glitter, much so like the first one, but different coloured glitter. Formula and application were the same for this polish.

 #3 over OPI Alpine Snow

#3 is a pinky jelly base with colourful hex glitters in yellow, red, silver, blue, green, orange and magenta. Formula again, was the same as the others and application wise was the same, only it tends to clump a bit if you brush too many glitter pieces in one spot.

#4 over BYS Blue (Matte)

#4 is a clear base polish with hex glitter in green, blue and yellow, as well as small green glitter pieces. Formula and application is the same as the others. I quite like the combination of these colours though! Wish they had showed up better in the pictures.

#5 over China Glaze Urban Night

Disclaimer - this was a lazy swatch as you can see haha! Look at them bald patches. I forgot you can see them under the light - my bads.

#5 is very much like the first 2 glitters but in gold. Formula and application were the same, though  the only major difference is that this is a lot more dense than the other 2.

 #6 over Illamasqua Boosh

Here comes the fun party glitter! #6 is a clear base polish packed with large, medium and small hex glitters in yellow, silver, blue, green, orange and magenta. Formula and application were the same as the others.

#7 on it's own showing 2 coats

#7 was one of the more unique/peculiar ones. It's a mix of a navy jelly base with black glitter and silver hex glitters. I though this one was a bit weird, but having them on didn't look too bad! Formula and application very much like the others.

#8 over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Last but not least, #8. This is a pretty boring one. #8 is a light/medium grey jelly base with silver hex glitters. I tried this on it's own, but it didn't cover at all. Formula and application were the same as others. In the pic, you can see it looks a bit patchy and that's what happened when I brushed over it more than once. It kinda looks interesting though... what do you think?

So, there we have it! What do you think of this collection? Let me know in the comments below :)

I will sart posting more regularly now, so please stay tuned!
